The Regal Theatre is a community theatre which provides the usual range of facilities found in performing arts venues. Community groups can book the theatre in order to promote their own events
The Regal Theatre has a large auditorium (400 seats plus spaces for wheelchair users and their companions) with fixed raked seating and good acoustics and a hearing loop. There is a large slightly raked stage with technical, back stage and dressing room facilities which can cater for a wide variety of performance styles by both small and large companies. We have successfully hosted large and small scale performances in the auditorium of drama, ballet, contemporary dance, classical and all styles of music by large and small drama companies, choirs, full scale orchestras, small bands and individuals.
There is a fully functional PA system in place and the facilities to create comprehensive lighting effects which are managed from a digital lighting board. Effects are managed from a technical station at the rear of the auditorium. The theatre also has a baby grand piano which can be tuned for performances.
The lobby and corridors can be used for artists’ displays.
