How the Regal Theatre is progressing with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
All tickets can be booked at the box office, but only between 9.30am and 12.00pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday or by phoning 01643 706430 during the same times.
Regal Theatre volunteers have been very busy during the past months making improvements to the theatre and its operational efficiency. A great deal of thought has gone into meeting current government guidelines to ensure that our audiences and volunteers are protected, with safety precautions and practical social distancing measures in place for when the theatre reopens.
Only seats in alternate rows may be booked and there will be two empty seats either side of individually booked seats or blocks of seats booked for people from one household in order to comply with social distancing guidelines. Everyone will be asked to use the hand sanitiser provided and wear a face mask on entering the theatre.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible at this stage to open the box office for ticket sales in person, or the theatre bar for refreshments before performances. As stated above, all tickets can be booked at the box office, but only between 9.30am and 12.00pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday or by phoning 01643 706430 during the same times.
We are working towards limited reopening of the theatre initially with film screenings but, unfortunately, we will not be holding live performances for the foreseeable future.
We have arranged for Regal volunteers to go into the theatre on a number of occasions to refund tickets for cancelled shows over the telephone. If you are still owed a refund for any performances that were cancelled following lockdown, please let us know and we will try to arrange further telephone refunds. However, for the time being we are unable to open the box office for the refund of tickets bought with cash, and we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.
We will be monitoring developments closely and will update you with any news when we have it.
The Regal Theatre’s volunteers have been honoured by being awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK and equivalent to the MBE.
The Regal Theatre stands in the centre of Minehead, and is loved by the people of West Somerset for its wide ranging programme of professional and community entertainment that includes drama, film, comedy, dance, music and performance of all kinds. There are also occasional displays of work carried out by local artists.
The theatre bar is open during intervals and before each performance. It is an ideal place to meet friends and enjoy refreshments or to relax on the balcony overlooking the town centre.
The MATA Regal Theatre Company Ltd runs the theatre with the help of an army of volunteers all of whom work hard to make you feel welcome and to ensure that you enjoy a splendid night out.
Regal Theatre Gift Vouchers, of any value, are available from the Box Office.
We have completed the Lift Off! Project, but we are always grateful for funds for new projects (please see our Voucher Page , or – better still – you can support us, generally, via the localgiving.com website).
