Pride (Cert 15)
Dir: Matthew Warchus UK 2014 120 mins
This British film, inspired by real events during the 1984 miners’ strike, tells the story of activist Mark Ashton who gains support for his plan to raise funds for the striking miners while at a Gay Pride rally in London. To his surprise the union and mining communities are reluctant to accept donations from lesbian and gay groups – with the exception of the small village of Dulais who are grateful for their support.
Mark and his fellow activists set out to consolidate their relationship with the mining community of Dulais, initially with mixed success. Stars Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton and Paddy Considine.
The performance is open to the public and tickets costing £5 (£3 Regal Film Society members) may be booked in advance at the Regal Box Office (Tel: 01643 706430).
Tickets are not bookable on line.
