With stalwarts Alan Lovell (lead vocals/lead guitar) and Pete Oakman (bass/vocals) the Swinging Blue Jeans have become synonymous with having a good time and the band work up a party atmosphere that will have everybody dancing and tapping their feet. The Swinging Blue Jeans stormed the charts worldwide with Hippy Hippy Shake which went all the way to number one in a number of countries.Other major hits for the band included Good Golly Miss Molly, You’re No Good, It’s Too Late Now and Don’t Make Me Over.
Today, the Swinging Blue Jeans delight audiences with these hits and also serve up a taste of Joe Brown and The Bruvvers as Pete Oakman was the leader of The Bruvvers and wrote Joe’s number one smash hit A Picture Of You.The other two hugely talented Swinging Blue Jeans band members are Jeff Bannister (keyboards/vocals) and Graham Hollingworth (drummer). Jeff was a former member of The John Barry Seven and Graham was a drummer for the great Chuck Berry on European tours for 15 years. Alan Lovell, Swinging Blue Jeans’ lead guitarist and vocalist, said: “We really enjoy performing at The Regal Theatre, Minehead. We will be performing a lot of rock and roll and hits from the sixties. Our shows have been going down very well all over the country and abroad. Things are going wonderfully. I have been into music for as long as I can remember. My father bought me a banjo so I started from there. I lived and breathed music. I left school when I was 15 and have been in bands ever since. “The 1960s was such an exciting time. The music was just great and was wonderfully written and the songs were recorded wonderfully. “We promise them (the audience at The Regal Theatre) a good night. We perform a lot of numbers so hopefully we will have them buzzing in their seats and dancing in the aisles,” he added.
