The West Somerset LETS (Local Exchange and Trading System) Group in association with the Regal Film Society presents
QU’EST CE QU’ON ATTEND (What are we waiting for?)
Dir Marie-Monique Robin France 2016 119 mins
After a brief stall in their growth, human-caused carbon-dioxide emissions rose again in 2017, tightening the time constraint to restrict global warming from exceeding 2 degrees Celsius that scientists increasingly believe is important to ward off climate change’s most catastrophic effects. Yet some places are doing their best to try and slow or even reverse that trend.
Eight years ago the French village of Ungersheim launched a programme of participatory democracy covering all aspects of daily life: food, energy, transport, housing, money, work and education.
The people doing Transition are the film’s characters, the Mayor, the young, the old, ordinary people doing extraordinary things. This movie is about showing the happiness and pride of acting together for a universal cause: the protection of the planet. Come and be inspired!
