A Musical Fable of Broadway based on the Story and Characters of David Runyon
Music and Lyrics by FRANK LOESSER. Book by JO SWERLING and ABE BURROWS
Guys And Dolls opened on Broadway in 1950, receiving unanimously positive reviews from critics and winning a bevy of awards, including Tony Awards, Drama Desks, and Oliviers. Frequently revived with all-star casts this popular musical comedy features as the Regal Theatre’s 2018 Summer Show with an all-star cast of local talent.
All the hot gamblers are in town, and they’re all depending on Nathan Detroit to set up this week’s incarnation of “The Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York”; the only problem is, he needs $1000 to find a safe place for the game. Throw in Sarah Brown, who’s short on sinners at the mission she runs; Sky Masterson, who accepts Nathan’s $1000 bet that he can’t get Sarah Brown to go with him to Havana; Miss Adelaide, who wants Nathan to marry her; Police Lieutenant Brannigan, who always seems to appear at the wrong time and you have a set-up for a cracking show. Together with the music/lyrics of Frank Loesser, and you’ve got quite a musical which includes favourites like Fugue for Tinhorns; Luck Be a Lady and Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.
This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International (Europe). All authorised performance materials are also supplied by MTI (Europe).
