A Waterfront Production, By Fred Owen.

It’s 1915 and Sherlock Holmes has retired to the countryside to keep bees. Dr. John H. Watson however is still living at 21B Baker Street, London, although he too has retired. When he gets a visit from Ada Langtry, an old friend from his East End days, his interest is piqued by her tale of the mysterious goings on at the end of the pier music hall she runs in Foxley-on-Sea on the Thames estuary.

There is a war on and most of the country’s able young men have signed up to fight, leaving Ada to recruit her bunch of chorus girls to don their overalls, pick up their hammers and saws and do all the manual work in the theatre as well as flashing their pretty ankles on stage. The last thing they need is some phantom wandering about the wings causing mayhem and making their difficult times even more difficult.

Can Doctor Watson and his sidekick Jack Hudson solve the mystery? – Well, they’ve done it before.
