DARKTOWN STRUTTERS & THE EXMOOR DO DAH BAND
Dixieland Jazz and Skiffle – a double bill of good time music
Appearing at the Regal Theatre for the second time, the popular Darktown Strutters play rumbustuous traditional Dixieland jazz, in the Eddie Condon/Alex Welsh style, with energy and exuberance – jazz classics, well-known tunes and special arrangements. The seven-piece band features world-class trumpeter Geoff Nichols and double gold disc pianist Colin Frechter. Expect banter and humour – great entertainment!
Also returning is the celebrated skiffle group The Exmoor Do Dahs! The band intersperse skiffle with blues, rock ‘n roll, ragtime, Irish, Johnny Cash and more. The line-up is John Bradley (guitar, banjo, kazoo, vocals), Sarah Pearce (washboard, percussion, guitar, vocals), Carlos Fandango (guitar, vocals) and Julian ‘Denzil’ Pearce (electronic tea chest bass). Says leader John Bradley: “Audience participation is compulsory – the more they sing the better we sound!”
The Do Dahs will play the first set, the Strutters the second.
