A Trivial Comedy for Serious People
The Importance of Being Earnest is one of the best known comedies in the English language. In 1890s London, two friends both use the name Ernest as a cover for their adventures away from home. They both meet girls and fall in love – but both girls have fallen in love with the name Ernest and this leads to a hilarious comedy of mistaken identities, pent-up passion … and a large leather handbag left in a cloakroom at Victoria Station. It is hard to imagine finer entertainment for a spring evening.
MYT award winners and some new faces strike out with a change in style from their usual work.
