MATA Summer Show 2009 – ‘The Pirates of Penzance’

Wednesday, 12th August 2009
7:30 pm

One of the most popular from the Gilbert & Sullivan stable, Pirates of Penzance is a show for all the family, with Pirates, Policemen, ‘Beautiful’ women, True Love and of course Deception, as well as plenty of singing and dancing.

This modern version developed by Simon Gallaher’s EssGee Entertainment brings G & S into the 21st century through modern orchestration, tighter, funnier scripts, a fabulous ‘megamix’ finale and a unique funky female chorus in three part harmony. It has been described as ‘Gilbert & Sullivan meets Pantomime’ and is a classic for the modern day audience. The show contains all the original songs – Poor Wandering One, I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General, When a Felon (A Policeman’s Lot Is Not A Happy One), With Cat-like Tread and many more.
