Dir Stephen Poliakoff UK 129 mins
British director Stephen Poliakoff’s mesmerising film Glorious ’39 is a powerful and poetic drama about appeasement during the Second World War. In contrast to the more cerebral and detached treatment of the same subject in the Merchant-Ivory film adaptation of The Remains of the Day, Glorious ’39 has a strong emotional pull which continues to resonate long after the credits roll.
A fabulous all-star British cast includes Romola Garai, Bill Nighy, Julie Christie, Christopher Lee, Corin Redgrave, Jenny Agutter, David Tennant and Jeremy Northam.
This fund-raising performance is open to the public and tickets cost £2 for members and £4 for non-members.
