European Union Chamber Orchestra
Sunday, 18th May 2008 at 7:30pmTHe European Union Chamber Orchestra was formed in 1981 with players from the member states of the European Union. The Orchestra lays an emphasis on giving unique opportunities and experience to young musicians at the outset of their professional careers.
Following their successful concert a year ago, the orchestra returns with a new programme under director Mark Gothoni. The probable programme will include Mozart - Divertimento K136; Barber - Adagio for Strings; Greig - Holbery Suite; Bartok - Romanian Dances. An acknowledged Cultural Ambassador for the European Union, EUCO enjoys an annual schedule of some 70 concerts world-wide and a reputation for musical excellence.
EUCO gratefuly acknowledges support from the European Commission and Parliamant under the European Community budget line, ‘Support for organisations which promote European Culture’. It also receives funds from the British Council, Goethe-Insttitute, the Ministry of Foreigh Affairs of Italy and the Cultural Relations Committee of Ireland.
