This is the opening event for the West Somerset Dance Festival 2010. The Festival aims to promote dance in West Somerset and invites all dance groups in the area to showcase their classes through two events.
With an exciting opening procession, processional willow sculptures and a live band, this promises to be the best opening of the Festival so far. Lots of dance groups will show off their routines, and there will be chances for the audience to join in, so come prepared!! The band will perform during the afternoon, and for the first time there will be a closing ceremony involving the dancers, the band and local drummers, DrumNation led by Josh West. This is a free event so enjoy the afternoon in the beautiful Blenheim Gardens. Supported by ARTlife.
If you are an artist (or just have an artistic bent) and are interested in creating the willow sculptures to be used in the procession, workshops are being held at Muchelney (near Langport) with an internationally acclaimed artist on June 12th and 13th.
