This is a Saturday morning children’s film for half-term, presented by the Regal Film Society.
Dir Tim Burton USA 2010 107 mins
Tim Burton’s magical and visually sumptuous adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s children’s book Alice in Wonderland stars Helena Bonham Carter as a suitably cruel and capricious Red Queen, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and Anne Hathaway as the kindly White Queen.
The film tells the story of Alice, whom we first meet when she is 19 years old and unsure about her impending engagement. After chasing a rabbit she tumbles down a huge rabbit hole into the magical “underland” where a colourful cast of characters tell her that her destiny is to slay the dragon-like Jabberwocky.
This film showing is open to the public: £3 adults £1.50 children (Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult). Refreshments will be available from 10am onwards.
